Robert E. Burness
Attorney Robert Burness has practiced law in California since 1985 and is “of counsel” with the Rupprecht Law Firm. He is a skilled trial lawyer with extensive experience ranging from family law cases to murder trials to personal injury, and has tried over 200 cases to verdict. As “of counsel” with the Rupprecht Law Firm, he maintains a general law practice caseload with a focus on family and criminal law. He accepts cases throughout California and has made appearances throughout Central and Northern California.
Mr. Burness earned his J.D. at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, and earned his B.A. in Political Science from University of California, Davis. He is admitted to all California State Courts, the Eastern District of California, and the Ninth District Court of Appeal.
Prior to joining the Rupprecht Law Firm, Mr. Burness practiced with two small boutique firms in the East Bay defending public entities, school districts and jails, in addition to practicing real estate and family law. He also has extensive experience in contract and public entity expansion after spending an additional three years in the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Legal Department.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Burness worked for a number of years for the Butte County District Attorney trying over 200 misdemeanor and felony jury trials.
